I have the privilege of photographing Donna and Alex’s wedding next Spring and we first met at their engagement session at The Biltmore Estate.

There is something especially beautiful about late summer at Biltmore Estate. The gardens are full, everything is still green, and there is just enough of that golden warmth in the air to make an evening outside feel effortless.

Donna and Alex’s engagement session at the Biltmore was one of those evenings where everything seemed to fall into place. We were incredibly lucky with the weather—it was mild for a late summer day, with a soft breeze that made wandering the estate feel even sweeter.

Donna wore a simple white strapless dress that felt so classic against the grounds of the Biltmore, while Alex wore a suit. Together, they had that timeless, dressed-up look that feels right at home at an estate as beautiful as Biltmore.

We spent the evening walking through the grounds, taking in the architecture, gardens, and all of the little pockets of beauty that make the Biltmore such an incredible location for engagement photos in Asheville. I love an engagement session that feels less like a photoshoot and more like an evening spent together—and this one really did.

There was something so easy about Donna and Alex together. The way they moved through the evening, the little moments between photographs, and the way they naturally gravitated toward each other made my job incredibly easy.

Biltmore Estate is one of those places that gives you so much variety in a single session. From the grandeur of the house to the gardens and surrounding landscape, there is no shortage of beautiful backdrops for romantic, timeless engagement photos. And in late summer, everything felt particularly lush and alive.

I always want engagement sessions to feel like an extension of my couples’ wedding day—beautiful, intentional, and a little bit romantic without feeling overly posed. Donna and Alex’s session was exactly that.

An evening at the Biltmore, a little breeze, a beautiful dress, and two people very much in love. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend a late summer evening.
